Okay so this was category was empty so I just decided to tell you about it. :D

Welll, I'd done the medical. Got ma balls felt by an old woman, BOOYAH! And also had to swaddle down like a duck etc etc.. And I'd been to the Job Orientation & Evaluation Day (Just figuring out which role you think you wanna apply for) .. And I also had done all the paper work and reading, psych test, more forms to fill out etc etc etc.. And then came the Interview.

So I walked into the room after I was called up and entered (Err..) and didn't know what to do. I figured it was going to be some old bloke (So I was going to shake his hand).. But it was an old lady! Aha.. And so she pretty much just started firing questions away, not saying Hello.. or Shaking hands. Just started out with "How do your family feel about you joining the military" .. "Are you in a relationship" "What is the main role of the job your applying for" "Why do you want to join the military" "For how long have you wanted too..". It was insane I was gettin grilled O.o I feel sorry for the dudes that have been in there, and are going to go in there.

And well after all the basic questions apparently I didn't give sufficient answers to most. So she's all "Tell me for 5 minutes why I should let you in" And, ahem.. That bit was easy :D

Haha. Anyway, I'm in if I pass my Hearing test and my Eye Sight test. Which I've done now, just gotta wait to find out the FAX # to send the results off and if they are good enough.. I'm in. I'll be over in iraq. WOOOO!! Lol jokes jokes..

Sorry to waste your time if you found this boring at all. :)

why are you excited about giving a large portion of your life to people who have little regard for it?

I'd have tried to join the RAF if my government fought justified wars, and had the same regard for their troops now like history reminisces about...

Maybe your military respect is different over there, but here it's not as you say it is.
I'll only be enlisting for 4 years. I'll be 21 by the time I'm out (If I get in..). Considering people live to roughly 90 or so... I think I'll be fine. The benefits when you're out are insane.

Sure, the PM and government don't give a shite. But the Australian people, and people from all over are pretty eager to stop terrorism. Aren't you? If you're not your an idiot tbh.
Joining the military doesn't mean bang bang your dead.. There's also reconstructing villages over in East Timor. There's the helping out of Bali when they had the Tsunami etc etc.

I haven't just rushed into this because I'll get lots of moneys.. That's plain idiotic. I've thought about the negatives and positives and imo the positives way out weigh the negatives. You meet many friends for life (Sure you get that anywhere, but none will have experienced this). You lean many skills for life. You're guarenteed a job when(if) you leave. Once out you'll appreciate life more, probably. It's endless really..

Positives.... Friends, Money....

Negatives.... Possibility of being tortured for weeks till you are killed (still happens), Possibillity of having severe mental problems involving flashbacks of war, possibility of .... hmmm .... death?

1. What terrorism? Compared to the number of people killed in combat (read: soldiers like the man you intend to be), deaths through terrorism are small.

2. Do you actually think you can stop violence through violence (on somebody else's home turf nonetheless)? It is a commonly touted statistic (and no, im not searching for sources; it would take too much time to be worth it) that terrorism and discontent with western civilization has increased greatly since the west sent troops 'to fight terrorism'.

I honestly believe that people en mass would do a better job fighting terrorism if none of them joined the military, and so did not give their governments the resources to cause discontent for irrational reasons. (or for that matter for the sake of profit through oil, or power through a frightened populace)

Lock this. I'm doing what I'm doing so fuckoff. Thx. Don't like it? Get out of my thread. It's a thread about an interview. Not politics of war. Open a new thread and I'll be happy to debate.

Lock.

Okay okay. So you're arguing we shouldn't be at war with Al Quida? And that we shouldn't have invaded iraq to get Saddam?

Sure. Iraq was illigal. We (The Americans, anyway.. But we shouldn't have followed) should never have went to Iraq. If we were going to get Saddam we should have stepped in a lot earlier than how many years after he did all the stuff he got hanged for. I'll give you that. We're retreating from Iraq very very soon, anyway.

But, going into Afghanistan, after Osama had admitted he'd done 9/11 is all good in my books. The Afghan government weren't content on finding the rebel Al Quida, and their leader - Osama Bin blah blah Laden and prosecuting him. So we did (went in search of him). And no, we haven't found him because he's probably skipped over to Iran or Iraq. That's why we're still there. We don't give a fuck if the country have a government or not and if they are able to vote. They'll work it out if they want too.

The war against terrorism (Allah even..) will never end.

1. Osama didn't admit he did 9/11. In fact, he vehemently denied it.
2. Skipping from Afghanistan to Iraq is quite an effort.
3. 'We don't give a fuck if the country have a government or not and if they are able to vote' - You'd fit well in the army :).

The American military that is currently stationed in Iraq are considered by many people over there to be terrorists. So how will joining the military help fight terrorism if its adding another terrorist to its ranks in their eyes?

1. Osama didn't admit he did 9/11. In fact, he vehemently denied it.
He denied it for some time, and then gave very subtle hints to him being involved, and then.. Came out with it. It was all over the news. Those videos he released n shizzle. I'd find it for you, but I really can't be bothered. You seem to have your mind made up and there's no way of changing it anyways

2. Skipping from Afghanistan to Iraq is quite an effort.
I said Iran/Iraq. Iran is right next to Afghanistan, and Iraq is right next to Iran. You say it's an effort? You'd do it to still be able to have two uncrushed testes - yes?
Once crossed over to Iraq you're pretty much safe. You have all ways to escape (Except South West if it's blocked) but you can go in all directions and if you come to a roadblock, you can veer off - and dodge them. And you could even go back to Afghanistan. Also a lot flatter.

3. 'We don't give a fuck if the country have a government or not and if they are able to vote' - You'd fit well in the army :).
They fucked it for themselves. They fix it themselves. It's like when two kiddies fight. Just lock them in the same room with no food for a week and they'll sort everything out. Might take a week for them to get the fact they aren't coming out - But they'll get there.

I'm Aussie, AKA Australian. When the election comes round our PM will be kicked and Rudd will be put in. Troops will be taken out of Iraq, due to them not needing to be there. Rudd doesn't take it up the ass from President Bush unlike Mr PM Howard..
I've also said that invading Iraq was illigal. It should never have been done.

(And I see you can't have italics in a bolded line. Fix. Apparently you can't press enter while you have Bold tags there, too. Fix.)
